My image for Lynch

"Our reflection" Intaglio Print 2007
10" x 13"

This print was inspired by one of my countour drawings from a figure drawing session. The figure is confronted with imagery such as the President of Iran, yet seems to keep gazing into the distance as if nothing matters. I wanted this print to portray apathy: a reflection of "us" at our best. I am affected by the number of people I meet here on campus who just do not care about current events and what is happening around us. It disturbs me much like the gaze of the individual, the text, and the image of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Pablo Picasso has influenced me most. I have always relied heavily on line quality develop my imagery. Picasso does much the same.

The blog is a great learning tool, even though I am absent more often than not. The oppurtunity for us to look at these artist's work is necessary for our development as social artists.
